Merit Badge University
August 1-3 at Stuhr Museum

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM - Over 500 Boy Scouts and their scout leaders representing 47 different troops from 5 states will call Stuhr Museum their home this weekend as the museum plays host to " Merit Badge University."

While Stuhr Museum will be open for business and attractions will function as normal, Stuhr's 200 acres will be the staging ground for 320 Boy Scouts who will be working toward 80 different merit badges over the course of three days. Dubbed " Merit Badge University" the young men will "be prepared" to earn badges in everything from baking and archery to journalism and roller skating and dozens more. They will be spending their evenings camping on Stuhr's open prairie.

During the " Merit Badge University," the Boy Scouts will be traveling both inside the confines of Stuhr Museum and out into the community to earn merit badges. During the evening, activities such as mass Dodge Ball games and church services are planned. Stuhr was chosen as the site of the event due to the unique space requirements and opportunities to earn merit badges on Stuhr's grounds.

Those visiting the museum are welcomed to watch the many classes and activities taking place over the weekend. For more information, contact the museum at (308) 385-5316.
