"Save-A-Landmark" Comes to Stuhr

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM – A group of more than 20 volunteers from across the state of Nebraska spent the day at Stuhr Museum on Thursday as part of Hampton Inn's "Save-A-Landmark" program, leaving the museum cleaner, more colorful and far better in the process.
In December of 2009, Stuhr was a finalist for the state of Nebraska in the “Save-A-Landmark” competition, in which several attractions competed to see who could receive the most on-line votes in a given period of time. The program is one Hampton Hotel’s have run for several years, and Stuhr won the competition handily.
The prize for the competition is a day of volunteerism, sponsored by Hampton, where employees of the Hotel chain show up for one day and complete a large-scale project. On thursday, more than 20 volunteers got to work, replanting and mulching the Fonda Rose Garden, clearing bushes from the Hornady Family Arbor, painting light poles, cleaning artifacts and much more.
The value of the materials and labor constituted a $10,000 donation to Stuhr Museum, and we sincerely thank Hampton for their donation and for being great workers throughout the event. Here are some photos from the day.
