GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM - Grab the lawn chairs, snag some popcorn and settle in for a special evening of history, film and fun at Stuhr Museum.
Beginning at 7 p.m., the museum's 1890s Railroad Town will be the setting for an evening of historic games, photo opportunities, snacks and a showing of Disney's 1975 classic "The Apple Dumpling Gang" starring Don Knotts and Tim Conway.
Before the sun goes down, visitors are welcome to have some fun in front of the Railroad Town gazebo with games on the green including hoops and sticks, croquet, horse shoes and more. Railroad Town's Front Street will be open including the Silver Dollar Cafe (which will be serving many apple related items including apple nachos, carmel apples and apple pie), the Mercantile, the Glade Mill and other locations. You also might like to visit the bank or the local jail, like the heroes in the movie.
As the sun goes down, grab some popcorn and a spot on the grass in front of the Boarding House for "The Apple Dumpling Gang," a G-rated family film about a couple of bumbling robbers in the days of the Prairie Pioneer who help a group of orphans by committing a heist. The movie should start around 8:15.
Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children. For more information, give us a call at (308) 385-5316. |
