Stuhr Museum invites the community to join in a once-in-a-generation celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026, as we mark America’s 250th birthday with “United We Celebrate” — a day filled with history, culture, and community spirit.
This July 4th celebration will combine Stuhr’s traditional Independence Day programs with additional historic elements and new community collaborations, featuring cultural, musical, and interpretive performances, hands-on demonstrations, and activities for the whole family. Guests can explore booths sponsored by local organizations and businesses, enjoy delicious food and unique crafts, and experience the very best of what makes Grand Island special. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display presented in partnership with the Grand Island Fireworks Celebration.
Stuhr Museum is currently accepting applications for participants through January 14, 2026, including performers and demonstrators, nonprofit community tables, and food and craft vendors. Those interested can learn more by clicking here.
In addition to this major event, 2026 will bring a series of educational and cultural programs presented by the newly formed Hall County Humanities — a collaborative effort between Stuhr Museum, the Grand Island Public Library, and the Hall County Historical Society. This partnership was created in part to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary by highlighting local and national stories that connect the past and present. Programs will explore a wide range of topics, hosted at various locations throughout Hall County.
Together, these initiatives embody the theme “United We Celebrate” — honoring our shared history while embracing the diverse voices that shape our community today.
