Julius Leschinsky and His Glass Plate Negative Collection

December 16, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Come learn more about Julius Leschinsky and his Glass Plate Negative Collection!

Julius Leschinsky, one of Grand Island’s premiere photographers, took more than fifty thousand photos of Grand Island and the surrounding Hall County area between the 1880s and 1930s. The Stuhr Museum is the home of many of these photos, including over twenty-thousand glass plate negative photos, which the museum has held in its archives since 1980.

This program is all about those glass plate negatives – come learn more about Julius Leschinsky and his life, see more than 100+ digitized photos, and hear about the Leschinsky Digitization Project, a project that’s been more than 40 years in the making.

This program is included free with regular daily admission for the public and is free for Stuhr Museum members.
