Get your little ones up and dancing! Students will warm up with some animal yoga poses, learn traditional Pawnee dances, and learn how Pawnee dances are inspired by and honor the Earth.

WATER EXPLORATION • AGES 8-11 •

This class explores the science of water and the wide variety of activities we can do with water! Every day we will be conducting water experiments and crafts, including water filtration, saltwater density, homemade lava lamps, and boat making to see if they will sink or float! Come cool off and learn about all the fun things water can do!

AROUND THE WORLD WITH NELLIE BLY • AGES 9-11 • 5 DAYS

Students will travel the world alongside daring adventurer and star reporter Nellie Bly as she attempts to circle the globe in less than eighty (or, in our case, five) days! Based on Bly’s real-life adventures in 1889, students will learn about what it was like to cross the world on ships and trains in the late 19th century (accompanied by just one suitcase!), what kinds of sights and attractions the world had to offer its intrepid travelers, and just who this audacious lady reporter was.

How does it all work?” Each day includes a variety of hands-on experiments as we explore space shuttle propulsion, the force of meteors, the ins and outs of our solar system, how to get a baby astronaut to go to sleep (you rocket!), and so much more. It’s sure to be a galactic-ally good time!

Imagine: it’s the late 19th century, and the Age of Exploration is in full swing. New discoveries and emerging technologies allow explorers and adventurers to push the bounds of the known world, traveling further and faster than ever before. Students will travel the globe while learning about the intrepid men and women who made these journeys in an age before global positioning systems and Google: who these pioneers of discovery were, how they got where they were going, and what they found once they arrived!

Come learn about the power of friendship while experiencing life in a 19th-century cabin! Students will learn about the American Girls Addy and Kirsten through immersive activities like baking biscuits in a wood stove, churning ice cream by hand, making crafts, and playing games inspired by the 1850s and 1860s.

A new invention has been making its way through Railroad Town and changing life for everyone: the train! Come learn about how this machine of steel and steam changed the west, and experience some of the tasks railroad workers would complete day in and day out to make the invention come to life. Seeking additional detectives in training to help solve a mystery! We will teach the art of the detective, including fingerprinting, tracking, secret codes and messages, and how to conceal personal items. Young detectives will learn about the legendary Pinkerton National Detective Agency and its founder, Allan Pinkerton, including stories of his adventures and how he thwarted many nefarious plots.

Come learn the basics of this craft that has been rising again in popularity! The basics of cross-stitching will be taught using patterns and simple supplies, and students will leave with the skills to continue this hobby for life. Basic sewing knowledge will be helpful as we practice this new technique.

KUMIHIMO BRACELET MAKING • AGES 8-12 • 3 DAYS

Kumihimo is a form of braiding from ancient Japan that is popular today for making jewelry using thread, cords, and even beads. We will create two or more bracelets with different braid patterns using easily-obtained fibers to get you started and show examples of more complicated patterns to tempt you to keep learning and creating!

Railroad town is bustling with stories from the people who live there. In this five-day class, students will take pen to paper learning how to create characters and scenes for the stage. They will interview the townspeople of Railroad town and turn those interviews into an original play, which will be performed for friends and family on the last day of class.
