Christmas Past & Present opens with a special members-only preview on Friday, December 6 from 6-9 pm! The live Christmas tree lighting will take place at 7:00 pm at the Band Stand in Railroad Town. Join us as we light the tree and sing a few Christmas carols to ring in the holiday season!
Take a step back in time and explore Christmas traditions and preparations of the past! As you stroll through historic Railroad Town, you’ll experience what Christmas might have looked like in the 1890s. The homes will be decorated for the holiday with wreaths, holly, and bright red bows about the house, but what about a Christmas tree? Be sure to stop in the Town Hall to visit Father Christmas and make a paper chain, visit the Mercantile to finish out your holiday shopping, and so much more!
Then, visit the Leo. B. Stuhr Building for a modern Christmas experience! Explore the Fantasy of Trees display and enjoy the sounds of Christmas, from music to Santa’s occasional ‘ho-ho-hos’ as he greets kids (and adults!) and listens to their holiday wishes. Also enjoy artwork by Nebraska artist Wendy Hall in her exhibit, Home and Down the Road a Bit.
Christmas Past & Present is open to the public on December 7, 8, 13 & 14.
