Custodian (FT)

Stuhr Museum seeks a qualified person to provide housekeeping/cleaning functions for the Museum’s modern and historic structures, including the Stuhr Building, Fonner Rotunda, Reynolds Building, Gate House, the rural church and school, and assigned sites at the road ranch, the 1890s Railroad Town, the 1890s farmstead and others. Uses cleaning equipment and approved procedures in performing all functions. Must be able to work flexible hours when needed, lift up to 50 pounds and work in weather extremes. Must hold a current driver’s license. This position is full-time with benefits. EOE.


Living Historian (PT)

Stuhr Museum is seeking part-time, seasonal living historians. This position interprets all aspects of life in central Nebraska and the Great Plains during the 1840s through the 1920s for visitors within various sites within the museum. Living historians will wear period-appropriate clothing. EOE.


Mercantile Manager (PT)

Stuhr Museum is seeking a part-time manager for the historic General Mercantile Emporium in Railroad Town. This position manages the day-to-day operations of the Mercantile, including maintaining an inventory and budget for the Mercantile. The manager is also responsible for merchandise selection, receiving, general office duties to assist in store operation, and will assist customers in a cheerful and helpful manner.  EOE.


Mercantile Clerk (PT)

Stuhr Museum is seeking part-time, seasonal clerks to work in the historic General Mercantile Emporium. Clerks will greet and serve visitors to the Mercantile while interpreting the Mercantile site. Clerks will also assist with other tasks, such as stocking merchandise and cleaning the site daily. EOE.


Dressmaker/Seamstress (PT)

Stuhr Museum is now taking applications for part-time seamstress/dressmaker. The position involves sewing historical garments (1840-1920) such as dresses, skirts, shirtwaists, and petticoats and eventually men’s clothing using period sewing techniques. Requires previous sewing and dressmaking experience. Work experience to be able to sew period correct garments. Ability to read at a level when studying materials, patterns and original clothing instructions. A willingness to continue learning is imperative. Patterns are provided to use; the ability to adjust or fit patterns is preferred. EOE.


Culinary Staff (PT)

Stuhr Museum is seeking both full-time and part-time, seasonal culinary staff. These positions will provide food service anywhere needed on the grounds, including the Stuhr Bistro in the Stuhr Building and the Silver Dollar in Railroad Town, and may assist with catered meals as needed. EOE.


Maintenance Technician (FT)

Stuhr Museum seeks a qualified person for restoration, repairs, and general maintenance of buildings and equipment. Must be able to work flexible hours when needed. Duties will include carpentry, snow removal, some ability with electrical maintenance, plumbing, and small engine repair. Must be able to operate light construction equipment, lift 75 to 100 pounds and work in weather extremes. Full-time with benefits. EOE.


Museum Educator (PT)

Stuhr Museum is now taking applications for part-time Museum Educators for Stuhr Museum Field Trips. A passion and proficiency for working with school-aged children and a desire to teach historical content from the 1800s is required. Also, must be willing to learn period-appropriate activities and dress in period-appropriate clothing. Requires a high school diploma. A teaching degree or experience is preferred. Background checks will be done on prospective candidates. EOE.


STEAM Learning Center Facilitator (PT)

Stuhr Museum is seeking STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Learning Center Facilitators. Must work well with Pre-K and school-aged children and possess a desire to teach using experiential, hands-on techniques. Must also be willing to learn about antique farm machinery and teach visitors of all ages about the machinery in the STEAM Learning Center. Requires a high school diploma. A teaching degree or experience is desired. A background check will be done on prospective candidates. Part-time. EOE.
