Painting Birds in Watercolor

February 13 | 9 am - 12 pm

Throughout our history, ornithologists (those who study birds), have relied on watercolor artists to illustrate their nature guides, biology books, and birding books. The medium lends itself well to these endeavors and has produced some of the most iconic and artistic images of birds around the world. The historical Audubon Society books are a classic example of this work. In this Audubon style, participants in this session will learn the techniques of basic sketch, washes, color ordering and mixing, dry brush, wet brush, and proper brush technique to create a small watercolor of their favorite bird in the allotted time of the session.
