Railroad Town Closed Monday, July 20 Due to Extreme Heat

Due to the National Weather Service’s Extreme Heat Advisory and forecasted heat index values reaching approximately 105°, Railroad Town, including the Silver Dollar Cafe, will be closed on Monday, July 20.

This decision has been made to ensure the safety of our visitors, staff, and volunteers during dangerously hot conditions.

Our indoor exhibits at the Stuhr Building, Fonner Rotunda, and the Farm Machinery Building, and the Prairie Treasures Gift Shop, will remain open during regular business hours.

Outdoor exhibits, including Railroad Town, the Road Ranche, and Pawnee Earth Lodge, will be exterior viewing only. Visitors are reminded to stay hydrated, take advantage of shaded and air-conditioned spaces, and use common sense when visiting our outdoor exhibits during periods of extreme heat.

We appreciate your understanding and encourage everyone to take precautions during the extreme heat. We look forward to reopening Railroad Town as soon as conditions safely allow.
