This seasonal exhibit is a favorite for many, bringing local businesses, organizations, groups, and Individuals together as they deck the halls of the iconic Leo B. Stuhr Building!
Spread Christmas cheer – and compete to win one of 5 cash prizes! All trees registered by November 12 are eligible for awards. Visitors to the Fantasy of Trees exhibit can vote for their favorite tree in the following categories:
- People’s Choice
- Most Traditional Tree
- Most Creative Tree
- Best Represents Organization
- Best Use of Recycled Materials
The People’s Choice tree will be awarded $100. The award amount for the remaining categories will be determined by the amount of entry fees collected.
Here’s how to participate:
- Register your tree by Wednesday, November 12 and pay the $5 entry fee. Registration can be completed online (scroll to the bottom of this page) or by calling us at (308) 385-5316 ext. 208.
- Visit Stuhr Museum to set up your tree between November 17 – 25 during regular business hours (10 am – 4 pm) or on November 26 from 10 am – 12 pm. All decorating must be complete no later than noon on Wednesday, November 26. (See rules below for decoration requirements)
- (Optional) Attend the Participants’ Open House on Thursday, December 18 from 5-7 p.m. where we will reveal the winners in the categories listed above, enjoy some tasty holiday treats, and admire the Fantasy of Trees!
- Visit Stuhr Museum to take down your tree between January 5 – 10 during business hours, 10 am – 4 pm. All trees must be removed by no later than 4 p.m. on January 10.

Rules:
- $5 entry fee for all trees. Fee may be paid online or in person at the gift shop.
- All trees are eligible for awards. Visitors to the museum will cast their votes on a paper ballot in each of the following categories: People’s Choice, Most Traditional Tree, Most Creative Tree, Best Represents Organization, and Best Use of Recycled Materials.
- Trees must be set up and taken down during the dates and times listed above unless special arrangements have been made.
- Trees must be artificial.
- Trees must not exceed 8′ tall.
- Each tree must have a tree skirt.
- Please bring a sign or some other way to clearly identify your organization.
- Electricity is available for Christmas tree lights. Please be sure to label any extension cords or loose parts.
- No food items, loose glitter, or organic items may be used to decorate.
- You may decorate your tree in any family-friendly, tasteful theme. Offensive or inappropriate decorations are not allowed.

Important Dates:
- Registration Deadline: Wednesday, November 12
- Tree Set-up: Monday, November 17- Tuesday, November 25, 10 am – 4 pm or Wednesday, November 26, 10 am – noon
- Exhibit Open: Friday, November 28, 2025 – Sunday, January 4, 2026 (Note: Stuhr Museum will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day)
- Fantasy of Trees Participant’s Open House: Thursday, December 18, 5-7 pm
- Tree Tear-down: Monday, January 5 – Saturday, January 10
