NEBRASKA STATE HAND CORNHUSKING CONTEST

The Nebraska State Hand Cornhusking Contest will kick off at 9:00 am with Opening Ceremonies followed by the contest itself. Scores will be tallied and awards presented following each class. Be sure to visit the nearby Cleary Farm, where you’ll be able to tour the house and see weaving and spinning demonstrations. Kids’ activities can be found at the farm as well as food trucks and live music during lunchtime! The contest and accompanying activities are expected to wrap up in the early afternoon.

RAILROAD TOWN AGRICULTURAL FAIR

Railroad Town is the living history part of Stuhr Museum, where costumed living historians invite the public to step back in time and experience life in the 1890s. Agricultural fairs are an exciting time for any agricultural community throughout history, and the residents can’t wait to show off their best work! Visit the exhibit tents, see ‘new’ technology being demonstrated, play carnival games, and maybe even catch a showing of Professor Lysander B. Jones’ Medicine Show and Musicale! Fair hours are 10 am – 5 pm on Saturday, Sept. 16 and 12 – 5 pm on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023.

CALL OF THE AMERICAN WEST EXHIBIT

We’re excited to bring the work of contemporary artist Tim Yanke to Stuhr Museum! This exhibit features paintings of classic icons of the American West with Yanke’s unique neo-expressionism style, and lots of color, added in. This exhibit will be on display in the Leo B. Stuhr Building from September 2 – November 12, 2023.

STEAM LEARNING CENTER

The STEAM Learning Center is home to a collection of 140+ agricultural implements and tractors, all under one roof! This equipment is from the early days of mechanized farm machinery through the early 20th century, many of which were powered by steam. This building also has STEAM – science, technology, engineering, art, and math – activities for kids and families to play, teaching basic concepts that were used to industrialize our world.
