The Luminary Youth Scholarship in memory of Jo West and Gretchen Dinsdale helps to offset expenses for current LHA participants and grants up to three $500 higher education awards annually to alumni of the Stuhr Museum youth volunteer program, assisting these dedicated individuals in their passion for learning beyond their time at Stuhr Museum. Luminary Youth Volunteer Scholarship Application

Individuals eligible for the Luminary Youth Volunteer Scholarship must be applying, participating member, or alumni of the Living History Apprentice Program.

There are 2 facets of the Luminary Youth Volunteer Scholarships. These funds can be used to offset expenses that would be incurred by Living History Apprentices to become an LHA including training fees and cost of clothing. The second portion of the scholarship will cover higher education expenses, up to $500.00 for applicants who meet the criteria below.

1. LIVING HISTORY APPRENTICE APPLICATION FEE SUPPORT

  • Covers $75.00 one time training fee & materials (Training, Haversack, printed materials, pencil, notebook, modern LHA T-shirt (worn while teaching modern classes)
  • Assists Museum in purchasing fabric for custom LHA garb to be utilized by recipient
  • Preference based on need and total dollar amount of other scholarships

2. HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA – Post Living History Apprentice Tenure

  • 200 volunteer hours as a Living History Apprentice at Stuhr Museum
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Preference based on need and total dollar amount of other scholarships
