THE LEGACY
OF NEBRASKA

Paintings by Todd Williams

The Legacy of Nebraska exhibition by Nebraska born painter Todd A. Williams will showcase the culture, history, geography, landmarks, inherited stories, and traditions of the people of Nebraska. While this body of work was being completed, Williams worked tirelessly with local historians, county leaders, and members of the public to gain the insights and wisdom required to capture the spirit of each of the 93 counties of Nebraska depicted in this collection of paintings. When it was at last completed, this exhibit gained a state and national reputation in 2017 during the sesquicentennial celebration of Nebraska. The process that Williams followed on his journey to complete this body of work was recorded in a documentary directed by PBS and released on NET in 2017. Also in that year, Stuhr Museum was one of the lucky few cultural institutions throughout the state to exhibit this collection of work. Now, five years later, Stuhr Museum will be the last to exhibit and offer for sale a remaining selection of this incredible work as well. The Legacy of Nebraska will be on exhibit at Stuhr Museum beginning Saturday, November 12th through Sunday, January 22nd, 2023.
